At Shaklee we talk about the Shaklee effect. My friend Allison and her family have had quite a Shaklee Effect. I want to share it with you, as I know many struggle with the same things that Allison struggled with. Here is her story.
My journey began in February 2014 when a friend of mine introduced her friend to me who is a distributor for Shaklee. I was looking for safe, clean, non-toxic cleaning products in hopes it would help my 2nd son, Dylan’s eczema. After 2 hard, long years dealing with eczema with my oldest son Liam, I was not about to go through steroids, creams, and antibiotics all over again even though I had started it with Dylan and had been frustrated enough. I knew I had to find something better and natural. It was such a heartbreaking time. I was truly amazed on how simple and nontoxic the cleaning products were and immediately I noticed Dylan‘s skin improving. I started thinking more about cleaning products and did not realize the effect cleaners/detergents had on our bodies and what I was spreading around my house. I thought to myself, if the cleaning products helped his skin, imagine all of the vitamins that could improve his health.
After starting him on vitamins, his bare to the bone skin improved drastically. With guidance from my new Shaklee distributor and friend, I used the children’s chewable vitamins Incredivites, Omega 3/DHA called Mighty smart, probiotics and a skin care products called
Calming complex.
My personal story before Shaklee in Feb of this year, I had dealt with Postpartum Depression after my 3rd son Blake. For a year dealing with PDD, I finally realized that I had likely suffered some depression over the last 10 years. Even though I never reached out during those long years for help, I now knew the struggles as a mom going through PPD. I was learning more and more that I wasn’t alone. There was many times where I felt like I failed as a mom, wanted to literally run away (never did but understood why some of these moms did what they did with their kids or themselves). It was a very scary, rough time to deal with and having gone through that. I now realized what PPD was all about and I had to share that with many women who might be afraid to reach out. There was a moment when I wanted to just hide alone in my closet away from my babies and had to call my husband to come home because I couldn’t handle it anymore. I had been to counseling about 7 months after Blake was born and it helped a little to know that there were some solutions and help for me.
When I was introduced to Shaklee, I started taking a few of the products that were suggested to me. I chose the Shaklee 180 protein shakes, vitalizer daily vitamin pac, alfalfa and a healthy dose of B complex. Since starting these supplements, I finally realized how I terrible I had been feeling. When you start feeling better, you realize how long it’s been since you felt that way. I was feeling SO much better and happier, calmer, more energy, more patience to spend time with my boys. I was thrilled that I was feeling better as a mom and wife because of the choices I made with the Shaklee products. I was finally accepting that Illinois is my home even though all of my family members reside in Texas. I found a HUGE part of my depression stemmed from being away from all of my family.
Something else happened to me as a result of my introduction to Shaklee and joining the team of other like-minded men and women in this are. Shaklee has really given me a chance to dream like I have never dreamed before. I had NO vision of what was ahead of me even though I knew my passion was helping others but really couldn’t find what that meant!
I had worked as a sub in a hearing impaired classroom, in the banking industry and even went to school for massage therapy. My thought was to succeed with using my hands…hands to sign, hands to help customers in banking, hands to heal…nothing felt right for me as I looked forward to finding my passion. Then Shaklee came into my life.
As a hearing impaired woman there have been many struggles/discrimination that I have dealt with being deaf. My advancement in a corporate job was limited. I didn’t see that I would be able make more than $50k a year since I am a “disability” to others in huge companies, basically I was a distraction to them, putting me places they thought I couldn’t handle. I worked very hard to prove them wrong.
As I attended my first global conference with my new Shaklee team and began meetings others in this company and learning the company culture, I felt that NOW I had that opportunity to be my OWN person and grow the way I wanted to in life with the support of loving and authentic people. I started to Dream and see a Vision in front of me that included helping others while I helped myself.

There may be an HUGE opportunity to bring more of a deaf/hearing impaired community For the first time, Shaklee has provided an interpreter for myself and for other deaf distributors that have the same passion to grow their business. Sharing the Shaklee Effect to change MANY lives and help them live a longer, healthier life. This truly has changed my outlook on everything and is truly amazing to finally end that struggle of depression and trying to find “that” something that completed me outside of “just being a mom and wife”.
Even to this day, I thank my family for the role models they were for me. They did not treat me as a disability and pushed me to live independently, especially my mother and father (he would have been proud of me today if he was here). I can truly say that I am

After 16 years the stories never do get old. I am so blessed to have met Allison and to have her on my team.
