Do you love Basic H2?
Did you know you could use it in the garden? My husband just made a natural weed killer last weekend which made me very happy.
He had found the ‘recipe ‘ someplace and bought the sprayer. He sprayed the brick out front and when he went back to look, all the weeds were gone.
I was wondering about the Blue dishwashing liquid and what might be in that that is not good. My Shaklee friend shared this with me.
NON-Toxic Weed Killer Recipe: Good to use in yards with Pets & Children
- 1/2 gallon of Vinegar
- 1/4 c table Salt
- 1/2 tsp. Basic H2
Note…This original recipe called for:
Dawn* liquid dish soap (Try Basic H2 instead)
*Toxin alert – Dawn dish soap, like most store brands, contains TRICLOSAN which is known to cause cancer.*
Add salt & Basic H2 right to Vinegar bottle. Shake to dissolve salt and put above ingredients in a spray bottle. Spray weeds thoroughly.
Works better than Round Up – kills weeds on 1st application. Spray carefully. This solution will also kill the surrounding grass. Hint: I poke a hole (size of dime) and cut a slit to the middle of a paper plate or aluminum pie plate and put it around the stem of the weed. The plate will protect the surrounding plants and excess spray will also run down the plate towards the stem and concentrate more at the base.
This “degreasing strength” of non-toxic, all-natural Basic H2 (1/2 tsp. per ½ gallon) will strip the weed of its protective oils so the vinegar can work with deadly force.
Basic H2 for a bug repellent:
Bug Repellent, I use the degreaser spray bottle with Basic-H2 (16 ounce water with 1 ½ tsp. Basic H2) and reapply every hour. For face, spray first on hands and then wipe hands over face to avoid getting on eyes.
Below is the way that we normally enjoy Basic H2 non non-toxic cleaner.
It’s a wonderful household cleaner as well as window cleaner and degreasing agent. You can learn more about it here and order yours today. Because it is SO concentrated, you save lots of money when you use it as well.
See more reasons to love Basic H2 on a blog post here.
I also use the Purification Essential Oil blend from Young living and put a few drops in the spray bottle and spray it around the yard when we go out to eat.
Here is a cool Mosquito trap idea that a Shaklee friend shared with me.
HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP:
- 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1 gram of yeast
- 1 2-liter bottle
- Cut the plastic bottle in half.
- Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.
- Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
- Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.
- Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area.
(Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.)
Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control.
