One of my favorite and most often used Shaklee vitamins is the B complex. B complex is often called the happy vitamins.
The B vitamins are niacin, riboflavin, folate, biotin, thiamin, pantothenic acid and the B6 and B12. Like good family members, the B vitamins work most affected when they hang out together. They often exist together in the same foods.
B complex plays a vital role in regulating the cellular metabolism in that it helps to convert our food into energy. It helps to produce about 95% of the energy in the human body by metabolizing the fats and carbohydrates in the mitochondria, where energy is produced.
Vitamin B helps the body process these carbohydrates and remove fatigue and lethargy.
Then what happens today when we are under stress – the B vitamins are depleted.
- Sugar depletes Bs.
- Alcohol and refined carbs depletes Bs.
- Antibiotics may deplete Bs.
Because B vitamins are water soluble, they are not stored in the body and need to be replaced in a supplement or in our foods.
To get all eight B vitamins, you need to eat a variety of foods, as in the picture above (whole grains, dark green leafy vegetables, animal products) every single day or possibly consider supplementation.
What Else?
B vitamins help to improve memory and enhancing concentration. My kids take a B complex from the Shaklee vitamin drawer at our house before every school day.
Vitamin B1 is known to be highly beneficial for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. I like to call B complex the sunshine vitamins. We joke that B complex can turn any mom into Mother Teresa. Not sure about that but I do know that many of my clients and friends have found their moods, cravings and cravings improved by adding some B complex.
It is no joke though that B vitamins are good for moods, alleviates sugar cravings, help hair and nails be thick and shiny. It may be beneficial for PMS and depression and that is all good.
If anyone asks what Basic Shaklee vitamins I always recommend, I always say a good multivitamin such as Vita lea and B complex from the Shaklee vitamins.
And being a mom of 4 kids, something I keep in mind is to give one B complex for each child I have.
It helps me feel like my fuel levels are not running on low… I feel like I have energy to face the day, keep focused and energized. I notice a difference in my skin, nails and hair. Just having my haircut yesterday, my hairdresser reminded me of house thick my hair is and how healthy it is compared to her other clients. Some studies say that hair loss can be due to low Vitamin D and iron. Here is a study mentioned in Prevention.
So when you feel fatigue setting in, look for your Shaklee supplements and find the yellow, sunny one – B complex. Take 2 pills with a big glass of water while you prepare a great green salad for your next meal.
Here is a great link that gives some good tips on How to Eat for B Vitamins.

Hi Moyra what do you think of B12 sublingual pills? I found they do a bit too much making me more anxious but I need more B12. What else might work
There are some B vitamins that can make you feel pretty hyped up, if you take too many. I love the Shaklee brand of B complex. It has all the B vitamins necessary in the amounts best needed for us and in a formula that is bio available. You can find the product here.https://us.shaklee.com/site/moyragorski/Nutrition/Essential-Nutrition/Vitamins-&-Minerals/B-Complex/p/20186
